Organized by Stand Together, a coalition supporting diversity and equality, the protest saw representatives from various national and local organizations.
Starting at Parnell Square and proceeding through the city center to Merrion Square South, the march culminated in a rally featuring speeches and music. Ailbhe Smyth, representing LeChéile, emphasized the importance of standing against far-right extremist groups that propagate racism, misogyny, and discrimination. She highlighted the necessity of solidarity in defending rights and freedoms.
Dr. Umar Al-Qadri, chairperson of the Irish Muslim Peace & Integration Council, spoke about Ireland's reputation for hospitality and compassion, despite challenges regarding housing and healthcare. He stressed the Irish people's rejection of racism and refusal to let migrants become scapegoats for government policy failures.
Conor Tormey, an activist from ROSA & Trans Pride, underscored the far-right's attacks on LGBTQ+ progress and the importance of solidarity in protecting LGBTQ+ rights. He highlighted the need for a movement that champions housing, healthcare, and liberation for all.
With the support of over 130 national and local organizations, the march demonstrated a unified stance against hate, discrimination, and division both at home and abroad.
