Aoife McNamara: Pioneering Sustainable Fashion in Ireland
LIMERICK fashion designer Aoife McNamara has made history by achieving a globally recognized certificate for her clothing brand. The Adare-based brand owner has earned the prestigious Benefit Corporation (B Corp) status, recognizing her company's commitment to positively impacting both people and the planet.
This groundbreaking achievement establishes Aoife McNamara as Ireland's first B Corp fashion label, setting a new standard for sustainable and ethical clothing in the country.
To celebrate this milestone, Ms. McNamara will host a series of events from October 27 to 29, including the 'Transforming Irish Fashion: B Corp Community Conversation,' a Cottage Sessions music event, and a Circular & Zero Waste Fashion Design Workshop.
A Commitment to Timeless Style and Heirloom Quality
In light of achieving B Corp certification and as part of their commitment to sustainability, Aoife McNamara has decided not to produce a new winter collection this season. This decision reflects their belief in timeless style and heirloom quality. The pieces from their previous winter collections remain as relevant and elegant as ever. By choosing degrowth this season, they are taking a significant step towards a more sustainable and responsible future.
Creating Luxury Sustainable Fashion Inspired by Nature
Founded in 2019, Aoife McNamara is a luxury sustainable fashion brand that creates garments inspired by nature to protect nature. Aoife crafts her clothes using Irish tweeds, linens, and natural materials, including organic pea silk, PYRATEX, and Cupro.
“Not every fashion label has that earth-driven fortitude, so being able to become certified for the hard work behind the scenes is testimony to the brand, Aoife, and the dedicated team driving this mission,” said Miriam Keegen, Head of Sustainability at Aoife McNamara.
